Gold Standard Packaging

After our recent trip to Rio to see the Paralympics I’ve been reflecting on some of the interesting packaging I encountered out in Brazil.

Two highlights take us from the most basic but effective of designs through to something simply glorious:

The first design could be considered product rather than packaging design. It deals with the hot temperature in Rio and alters consumer behaviour to make beer more palatable. Bottled beer is served as standard with very small glasses and a double walled plastic or metal cooler container to keep the bottle cool. It encourages you to pour as you need into your small glass to keep the beer as ice cool as possible - neat!

The second design is packaging but takes it to a new level in luxury. The medals (2 golds and a bronze) my friend Steve Bate won are presented in these beautiful wooden boxes. They smoothly slide open to reveal the multi-sensory medals held within - definitely worthy of the years of hard sweat and tears to win them. Well done to Rio Paralympics 2016!
